Use PHP, mySQL to buil Web Mail

Hello everybody,

Can anyone show me how to use PHP, mySQL and other tools to build a Web Application like Yahoo! Mail.

I try using JavaMail, but JavaMail is a client side support, I do not know how to write a program to create a Real Email Account on POP3/IMAP Mail Server.

Hi, just trying to help.
First, are you sure that JavaMail is only for client support ? If so, what is the difference from your "to be created" email application ?

If you look at "Professional PHP" from Wrox press, they have a work through to a php/mysql mail program. You can even download the books source code from www.wrox.com.

It's not as hard as it looks. I made one in a couple of hours. You can just use the IMAP functions to read a POP3 server (IMAP functions work on IMAP, POP3 and NNTP, btw), and the mail() function to send it. If you want (like I did) include multiple-mailbox support, you can easily use MySQL to provide authentication and user settings.
