hiding source

I am interested in any alternatives to using Zend Encoder to hide passwords and source code in my php files. Are there any alternatives out there?

The reason being is that I can not find a quality web host that  has the Zend Optimizer installed which is necessary to use encoded php files.

your only real options are:
1. run your own server and give zend $2400 US
2. rewrite everything as a cgi in C
3. rewrite everything as servlets

not a great list of options, i admit.
