The search facility

Can someone tell me why I am unable to get any sense out of the search facility for these forums. A while ago now I posted a request reagrding credit card validation and recently received a reply to it. Now I want to find my original posting, but no matter how hard I try I cannot get the search fucntion to find my post. I know I am entering the right words as I wrote them. So what am I doing wrong and no, before you ask I am not searching in the middle of the night.

Well, if it's a long time ago it could be archived in which case it will take a few pages of your search to find it.

However, there should have been a link to the reply in the mail sent to you. Once at the reply you should be able to access your original post.
