How to find a Web Designer

Our company is in the final stages of developing a web application, it has become apparent that even though our code is great, the design of the site isn't.

The entire site is implemented wih templates, so changing the design of the site should be a snap, so my questions are

1) How to find a good web designer
2) What is the cost of a designer
3) Any referrals?

I recommend that you find someone local to your area although its not a necessity. If they are local its easier to have one on one meetings and things get done a lot faster.

Make sure they have a pretty extensive portfolio and you enjoy All of their work. Try to find 3 or 4 and then tell them what you are intersted in have them draw you up a proposal of a time frame and hourly rate at that time.
Good Designer will run you on average
