Safe Linux Shell for PHP/Perl hosting?

er, you setup the root dir as chroot and you can do this in logon scripts, can't you?

i did that with the ftp, and it works great, but i dont know how to do that with shell access

how do you setup chroot for telnet/shell?

anyone know of a safe linux shell that's good for php & perl/cgi hosting? I'd like it so the scripts can't see any files outside the user's home dir. Ideally, the scripts would also consider the user's home dir to be the root dir /

any help would be greatly appreciated
