Does PHP close all file connections?

We just had to reboot the server as it would not let us do anything on it. Its just continually said "too many files open". The machine has been up for over two months, no problems.

My question is, does PHP close all its file connections when it uses "include" etc. I would think so, however it is the only continual process on the system that is regulary accessing extra/external files. I don't thinl PHP is the culprit here, but I would rather be certian.

Yes it closes all it's files when it's finished with them.

What about when the php process is inadvertedly killed - eg I click the stop button on my browser while the page is loading....

Then too.

When the user clicks the stop button, the php script is stopped and the garbage cleaner in PHP closes everything nicely.
