NEWBIE: phpMySqlAdmin and Security

Hi,
as stated in the Subject I'm a newbie, so please forgive my ignorance!

I've installed PhpMySqlAdmin on my remote server and it works (!), but anyone who knows its location could call it because I had to "hard code" my username and password.

So, the question is: how can I prevent these unwanted calls?

The system of the server is Unix and phpMySqlAdmin is in a FrontPage directory.

As you are on unix I assum you run the Apache webserver.
you can protect webpages using the ".htaccess" file. Read the Apache webserver's manual (www.apache.org) for more information and intructions.

It's also possible to enable Advanced Auth in phpMyAdmin... You have to edit the config.inc.php for that...

this will enable authentication where you have to type the user/passwd in a logonbox..
