annoying refresh with dropdown menu

I am using a form composed of simple textfields and drop down menus. The problem is that when the drop down menu is used, the browser refreshes and goes to the root directory of the web site:

exemple: my form is on mysite.com/eng/form.php3

when I select an item in any drop down menu in the form, it just goes to:
mysite.com/eng/index.whatever ext

If anybody could give me a hint...

Silly me...
Anyway, for those who've had this problem:

It's a default configuration of the select Tag (by DreamWeaver), well, just remove all the attributes except the name and it'll work as a basic drop down menu, however these attribute can be used for a change in the page when an item is selected:
ex:
select country: -->refresh:
display adequate Postcodes
