Anyone know how to get Apache to check for a files existence before it calls php? IIS does it. My whole conception of this world would come crashing down if IIS could do something Apache couldn't.
use the apache directive "ErrorDocument" to send the user to another page notifying the user that the page can't be found. scripts and server-side-includes can be used on your customized 404 error page.
ErrorDocument 404 /missing.html
