Hello,

I want to create PHP scripts and distribute them on my web site.

The thing is, I don't have money to really start my own company.

I never did anything like starting my own company so I don't know how this would work, but what I want to do is get a domain name and offer scripts from my site.

My question is, how would I go about the legal stuff. What are my boundaries. I will be selling them along with web designing services.

When tax day comes, I can put it down on my taxes that I made money, but then do I call my company 'Company X' or should i use my name.

Can someone please lead me the right way. Also note any legal stuff.

Call your local chamber of commerce, they can tell you all about it and give advice on how to set up the legal stuff.

Also, talk to some copyright people about what you can do to stop people from using your scripts without your permission.

And finally, be sure there is a market for what you want to do.
Most scripts have already been written, and there are GNU versions of just about everything you can think of.

Hey Vincent, you sound like the guy at the US Patent Office in the late 1800 who projected that the office would be shutting down soon because everything had pretty much been invented! :-)

However, I do agree that selling premade scripts (or even libraries/classes, which are much more useful as building blocks) isn't much of a business model, for almost the reasons you cite. Real money in web programming is found in the ability to assemble and maintain complete, actual working sites for customers (or employers.)
