Anyone knows how to do copy and paste in RedHat 7.1? I tried right-click, clicked two buttons at the same time, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V... and had no success

In my Redhat 7.1 it works this way (like in all versions I've tried): Left mousebutton down and color those areas which you wanna copy and click right mousebutton where you wan't to paste it.
I tried, but it does not work. Do I need to configure the mouse in a certain way? I have a Microsoft mouse with 2 wheels and a middle button. I'm a novice to Redhat and have never configured a mouse on Redhat before.
