I wonder does anyone know of a search engine (preferably GPL licenced) created in PHP that would be able to index multiple web sites?
I'm searching for a solution that would allow searching a selection of about 40-50 affiliate sites from one central site (central site is partially commercial, other sites are not, just regard the same subject - kind of a hobby 🙂. I'd prefer a clean, PHP solution that works either alone on text files or with a MySQL base and needs no other software. It does not have to know how to search the databases, just normal site content...
The list of web sites to be indexed and searched could preferably be stored in the database, and the script would, say, once a week re-index (update indexes) all those sites...
Does anyone know of such a project? I had a look at dgssearch which looks very professional, but I can't seem to find an option to index more than one site (there is only one site root option in the configuration). I don't think PHPDig has such an option either 🙁
