parse password protected webpage

Hi there!
I want 2 parse a password protected webpage. I know my username and pwd, but how can I tell that to the server. Can I still use the file() function?

you can if it uses basic authentication...

use the url in this form:

http://username:[e-mail]/script.php

[lvm-php]

It's a https:// webpage. I get an error message, that there was no such file in my folder. file() seems not to be able to recognize https... (?) You suggestion doesn't work for me then, thx anyway.

I just heared the is a library for php named "curl" that can do what you want...

using the commandline tool named wget will do the job aswell

it's wget, and it's not a function but a command line tool...

Thanks. I hoped that that could help my friend, but nothing to do, cause the provider don't wish to install any kind of sw on it's server.

No curl, no wget,... Is there some other solution
