DHTML/Java Script saving file ???

I'm now learning a bit of DHTML and Java script and was wondering...
after you temporarely change a html file using the .write function, is it possible to use a JavaScript/DHTML code to save the file the way it is now ????

Do you want to save it to your server, or on the client's drive? You could have your JavaScript put the page's modified HTML content into a hidden form variable, and submit the form to the server where you could use PHP or something else to save the file. It sounds a little risky, though - be careful.

Well, yea I wanna try to save it on the server... it is risky, but the page wouldn't be public..
I dunno how PHP works yet.. but if i't the only way, I'm ready to learn it.

i'm more interested in saving it on the client's computer.
it's because i am making a program in vb, and the program has to get the latest news from my website.
so i'm making a link with a certain page on my website, and then the website has to send that txt file to the client's computer, so the program can open it to read the url with the new news.
