Hello I have a field called search1 with strings in the format **, , **.....

example: "john, karl, lars" and so on

now i have a problem where i want to separate these words which is separated with a comma into single words and then list them in alphabetical order on my webpage.

Example:

John
Karl
Lars

The strings contains from 1 word to infinity. If it is one word it doesn't have any comma.

I would be very helpful if anyone can help me on this one!

To split the search words you could use the split function:
$search_words = explode(",", $search1);
This will break up the string by using a comma as a separator. After that you need to sort the new array ($search_words) alphabetically. Just add this line after the explode function:
sort($search_words);
This should do the trick!
Now you could use this like so:
$search_words = explode(",", $search1);

sort($search_words);

$limit = count($search_words);
for($i=0; $i < $limit; $i++) {
print("$i: $search_words";
}
