I need to get the http address of the current page. $HTTP_ADDRESS gives me nothing, although the manual suggests it should.

I\'d appreciate some help. I am using PHP4 on a remote host.

Try $HTTP_HOST, $SERVER_NAME, $SCRIPT_NAME, and $REQUEST_URI in different combinations. Print them all to see what they do. You can print the URL using 2 of them in combo, I think. 😉
