wbmp images not working

I've been writing a set of scripts for a friend to edit a wap site with minimum confusion. After weeks of playing about, we finaly got the damn phone to display the page (turns out, I wasn't putting <p></p> around the images!).

Well, the page loads, but the images don't. Through all the online and offline wap emulators, they work fine, but on the fone, we just get the alt text.

I've got:

AddType image/vnd.wap.wbmp .wbmp

in my .htaccess (and allowoveride allows this), and my image tag looks like:

<img src="http://mybest50.com/wap/title.wbmp" alt="LogosUnlimited" />

Any ideas?

I noticed he had saved the image we were trying as a normal bitmap, just with a .wbmp extension!

I've suggested he gets WapDraw from:
http://www.phnet.fi/public/jiikoo/

(just in case anyone else wants it!)
