Say if I have a field that will only hold phone number, or a name of a person, or the URL of an image, should the field type for mysql be varchar? and how about the length? 250?
Will the database be slower if I allocate so much space (varchar 250 or more)for a small field such as a simple telephone number?
What is the thumb of rule that I can follow to determine what types goes to what?
