beginner

I'm a very new beginner, so please don't laugh.
1 - I couldn't install LILO on my hard disk. I have only one HDD, on which WinME and Win2K were already installed before. So I have to boot Linux with a 3,5" floppy. Any way to get out of this?
2 - I couldn't get my network card to work under Linux. I have the manufacturer's driver disk, on which I found "Linux" folder. I think it is supported. I just simply don't know how to add hardware into a Linux system.

I would recommend you look into a Linux help section as opposed to a PHP help section..
