mssql remote connect

I need to connect to a remote MS-SQL server at a given IP address and port. I have the database name, login, password and all that.

Has anyone done this? Am I the first? Can you please show me how? Please?

it should work similar to a local connect. check the php manual.

Thanks for your reply. So you're really saying that you haven't done it and have nothing to contribute. Fair enough. Yes I've read the manual and yes there are similarities with a local connection. What the manual does not say, and why I posted this question, is: what to do about the port? If I only have the IP address instead of the full web site name, does the IP also go within quotes or not? This is NOT in the manual, paul, which is why I posted this message. "Similar" isn't good enough.

mssql_connect ([string servername [, string username [, string password]]])

servername is a string, so even if its an ip address, it goes in quotes. in most cases if you arent using a standard port it will be in the format: "123.123.123.123:XX"
where XX is the port.
