VB with PHP

i want devlop oneweb based application project. i want use VB(client side) as froent end and php/mysql as back end(server side).

I've been after something similar, but haven't had much luck. I looked at some INET(?) thing that has .execute and .openurl functions, but never managed to create anything that worked (other than passing variables over by fetching somepage.php?somevar=someval and reading variables out of the reply - not sure if I saved it though, it was mighty lame).
