GD Library, Help!

OK, here goes.

My server is a virtual shared host (www.hostyard.com). I asked the admin to install GD Support for PHP, but he said he couldn't ;( because the control panel they use, Plesk (www.plesk.com). What I wanna know is, is this true? Will Plesk prevent an admin from installing the GD Library.. and more importantly, can I install it myself? I dont have telnet access persay, but I can do some things with that PHPShell script.

Is there any hope I will be generating PNGs, or JPGs on my server anytime soon?

I guess that admin doesn't know how to install the GD library because his control panel doesn have an option to install the GD library;-)

If it's a shared server, you probably use the same webserver/php for all clients, so you can't install the GD library for just yourself.
