No E-commerce with PHP/mysql

Help! E-commerce is running on my dedicated server (hosted by Virtualis) using PHP4 and mysql. So everything seems dandy and good.

But then 3 out of every 10 people who visit the secure server get a DNS error and can't view a page.

Usually a refresh to the page will fix it. But most people just think that our server is down. Virtualis says that its the visitor's ISP's fault. But this happens way too often for me to believe that. Has anyone heard of this?? Please help!!!!

I don't know for sure, but I've tried several times and it worked fine for me...
Time Warners, cable - no errors whatsoever

I had a similar problem on a development rig. It turned out to be Internet Explorer specific behaviour and was DNS related. sorry, I didn't keep much detail after fixing the problem so can't really tell you much more.

Incidentally, the site worked for me as far as the order form. NTL Cable.

Thanks for the replies. There was a problem I had earlier which Paul mentioned and that was a separate issue. (In case you come across it, the culprit is IE 5.0 on secure sites.)

By the way, did anyone actually go through with a transaction? Most people get an error on the final order page. If anyone does this, I will make sure the transaction is void (unless you actually want it!)
