php good lang. to make forum?

I want to code a discussion forum for my website ( my summer project). A friend suggested PHP and mySQL together. Is this a feasable plan? Is there a better language for doing this??? I have been unable to find any sort of tutorials on this specific subject.

Any help would be fantastic.

PHP is a fine choice for a forum.

This forum is written in php. http://www.phorum.org/

For a more impressive forum I'd go visit http://www.phpbb.com/

PHP/mySQL is a not bad combo for writing a discussion. Naturally enough, this forum you've posted by is written that way🙂 It's available at www.phorum.org and takes very little work to integrate it into an existing site. HTH,

vBulletin is also written in PHP, but it's not free like Phorum...

PHP is a good language to write any web-based app in 😉
