How to test for weak password?

please, how to can I test if a password is weak? Is there any algorithm, class or library wich can make this kind of test (like choosing user pass under linux systems)?

I don't think so, but there are some simple ways to tell if a password is weak.

Like if the password is way too short.

Or it doesn't have a good number-to-letter ratio.

Or if it contains an actual word (you can determine this with the pspell functions).
