I'm just curious about a few things on how PHP is set up on various hosts, so I have a few questions. This is just to satisfy my own curiosity and justify my belief that most hosts really don't know wtf they're doing.
1.) How many people are still running PHP3, and if you are, what is your host's excuse for not having upgraded yet?
2.) On shared server setups (which comprises the vast majority of people who use PHP) does your host run the module, the CGI, or both.
3.) If you are on a shared server, does your host provide a means with which to run your PHP scripts under your own username?
4.) Does anybody (host staff or user) really even know the importance of #3? (A discusssion of this is beyond the scope of this thread so if somebody wants to know about it then maybe you could start another thread).
