Can a irc commands be captured from php

I have a question relating to captureing irc commands if someone can help...

Im looking to connect to a irc via php and fire of a command and capture the results to display them to a web page...

is this posible?

Yes, you can use sockets in PHP.
Tricky, but it can be done.
