ok, i give up. couldnt find anything to help me.

i've managed to set up an web email system using pop3, but one problem. if the user wants to change their password, the cant.

is there any way i can change the password using php+pop3? i managed to authenticate the username and password for a user, its just changing the passwrd part. hope anyone can solve this for me.

I don't think you can change your password through the pop3 protocol.
You'll have to create a script on the server that can change the password there, and that will probably take root access, so be VERY VERY carefull.
One wrong move and your server is a hackers' eldorado.

Search the web for a utility called 'sudo'. that will let you run scripts with limited, predefined root-ish access.
