SSL and sessions

Hi,

My SSL-enabled app runs fine in IIS 4.0/PHP 4.0.5 server with a test Thawte certificate.

Now when I upload the app to my Linux webhost, it seems that the session variables are not registering for HTTPS secured pages. When I revert these pages back to regular HTTP, it works.

My webhost is running a Cobalt RAQxtr with Linux 2.2.x, Apache and PHP 4.0.5. The SSL certificate is a self-signed Cert probably from OpenSSL. This is for testing only and will get a real Thawte if things check out. Does the SSL cert have an impact on sessions? Any advise on what to do?

Further on this problem, I noticed when using IE 4.0 or 5.0 this problem does not occur at all. No problem at all. But when I use Netscape 4.75, then the secured pages don't seem to be registering the session variables when navigating between pages. I've tried setting cookies on and off in Netscape's Preference settings to no avail.
