Web Forums PHP/MySQL

Hi, I am a pretty decent programmer for both PHP and mySQL and I was wondering if their were any guides to making web forums using these languages. I have made my own guestbook http://tcpa.calc.org/members/ross and I am quite proud of it, but I was just curious if there were any pointers on web forums. I'm sure with some help in the right direction, I could complete one as there are only a few things that I need to understand first. So, thanks in advance for any help. Also, any links to good web forums that would be of help would be appreciated.

there will be many hits. many will include source code. Take a look.

The defacto PHP/MySQL forum can be found at www.phorum.org. It's the one your reading right now (also the one used by Zend) and can also use PostGreSQL as a backend. HTH.
