Budget Hosting

Greetings.

I'm new to PHP and as such would like to know if anyone can recommend a good "budget" hosting service?

Specifically I'm looking for PHP and MySQL support, anything else is a bonus.

I found these guys, The Host Group
www.thehostgroup.com

Their basic package is $10 and at this level you still get PHP and Mysql support. I am a developer and have several clients with them.

another good place is servus.ws. They offer one of their plans at 10 bucks a month and you get Php4, MySQL, great tech support, 120mb space, and more. They also have lower plans that are cheaper.

The servus.ws has a plan starting at $5 a month with PHP and mySQL. This is a good price but they had a banner ad for another host site http://www.herculeshost.com/
which has an offer that might be too good to be true. Life time hosting for $200 with tons of features.

They have PHP and mySQL support for $10/mo and some lesser-priced plans as well.

I have 7 clients with them and am EXTREMELY happy.

I've had a look at SpacePorts.com, and they appear to support PHP (they certainly imply that from their CGI-BIN documentation).

Has anyone used them at all?

I have not used them but I did check it out.
They kill you with the pop-up ad's on the free sites. You can however sign up for a year of banner free/pop-up free hosting service with php and mySQL for $20. Thats less than $2 a month.

I have signed up for the FREE site and if I can get php and mySQL working i will let you know.

My friend has an account with them and to get MySQL, you have to contact them, then it takes about 3 weeks until it is setup. I myself have signed up about a week or two ago and I am still waiting for MySQL access.

Thanks for the help guys! I'm in the process of applying for the MySQL access now, and hopefully it will be a decent enough service to do what I want it to.

It seems to me anything over one day to get an account set up is too much. I actaully tried an ISP and I had to email them to get an account setup. Days went by and no reply from them. It seems to me that is the ISP doesn't has a system to automatically set up an account or respond within a day, then you should find someone else. I figure if it takes weeks to get an account setup then you customer support will be even worse.

After I created a CGI account I was able to log into the cgi server and setup a mySQL database or so the site told me. I was not able to upload into the ftp area with their tool or my ftp program. I gave up after the pop-up windows started raining in.

I would rather sell my right arm and pay for a hosting service than use this BAD site.

The pop up windows will take over your computer after about 15 minutes on line.
It is REAL BAD and I would not recommend spaceport to my mother-in-law and I sure would not recommend it to a friend.

If your just wanting to try out php and code you can always run Windows PWS and PHP :-)
Thats what I am running now.

I poked around on their site a little more and found what they call their YEARLY SPECIAL. It has the same features at their other accounts but with less space and traffic allowance. For most people this would be great at "$30 A YEAR"

I found http://www.digivex.net. Pretty new guys, but I found they are overall very good. They start at $11.95 and give a decent amount of space and other stuff.
