Cookie Problems

Is there a way I can test to see if cookies are properly installed and working? I have Linux. The cookies do not appear to be able to be created. Any help is appreciated.

First, make sure that you understand what cookies are. Cookies use persistent client-side storage to allow data to be saved between and shared among multiple connections. HTTP connections are inherently stateless; cookies provide a mechanism for preserving states.

Then read the cookies entry in the PHP manual.

Then look at this example:

Once a cookie is set, its value is available to all subsequent PHP scripts within the domain of the cookie.

I do realize how cookies work. However when i do set a cookie, it does not set. There is a cookie log on the server however. But the cookies themselves do not get set. Is there anywhere I should check in linux to see that cookies are fully enabled?

The only place where I am aware of a possibility of a configuration issue is on the client side -- if the user rejects cookies, then cookies will not be stored and the cookied data will not be transmitted with subsequent requests.
