php versus delphi(Kylix)

To anyone who is interested,

Back then, some time ago when i was having a training, i have a chance to use both the delphi and the php. And i was wondering could php + html do as good as visual delphi. Lately, the dilema start coming in when i had a project on doing a web application for recruitment purposes. And things go bigger then, the company old database system(Symantec Act, specialized in contact purposes) is not efficient for recruitment purposes. Eventually the Web Application we develope beginning to function part of the Act job. So there is no point we keep two, the Act must go for both of the reason. Unfortunately doing Web Application and Recruitment System is totally different. Eventhough php work well for Web Application i am not sure how well could it be for a recruitment system. Since delphi(Kylix) is around for another alternative, and it seems more efficient for the recruitment system. However using it also means i need to pick back my old knowledge on delphi, plus my team member aren't familiar with it. I feel that php+html could possibly function as well as delphi(Kylix). So who it is going to be php or delphi? Some might say how could you mix this two up, they are totally different thing. Well i am seeing the possibility here and that's why i ask. And if you aren't sure how a recruitment system looks like, well thinks of most Windows Software, where point and click is always available, and that is possibly what my employer is hoping for.

To my knowledge Kylix isn't free right? I've been meaning to jump into Kylix but the only thing stopping me is the price of the development packages.

WELL True, me also i've been planning to use delphi for my other upcoming project.. (payroll system) since web developement is not advicable when it comes to that system,is it?

hmm well how much does it charge? Brian actually make his point right web application is not aviceble for something too sophisticated. Perhaps i could keep the php system to run most of the important features of the recruitment system but not up to the point where "point and click" is always available. I beleive while doing back-end, php has enough tools and ways to achieve it but the problem lies in creating the front-end.Any suggestions? Or just use Kylix anyway and don't care the down side because it is the right choice.

WELL IN THE CASE OF FRONT-END I THINK JAVASCRIPT CAN HANDLE IT ALTHOUGH NOT ALL. BUT YOU KNOW NOT ALL FUNCTIONS WE BUILT ARE OF USE BY THE USER(BASE ON MY EXPERIENCE).. WE TRY TO MAKE TOO MANY THINGS FOR THE USER TO HANDLE. REMEMBER THERE END-USERS THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THE PROGRAM THEY JUST WANT THE OUTPUT. SO HOW ABOUT TEACHING THEM HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS WITHOUT EXPOSING THE DISADVANTAGES.. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS PERFECT SYSTEM.
