Redhat or Mandrake?

Im intending to buy one of the two but im not sure which one. I heard that Mandrake would be a better choice. Can sobody just tell me what the differences are or which one is more "buggy"

i have heard lots of good things about mandrake. i used red hat 7.0 for awhile but didn't like it all that much. threw it out for debian instead. just my two cents.

Well, I used redhat for a while. It seemed to work pretty well though somethings I didn't like such as the fact that it put in Apache all weird. I always had to reinstall it.
Right now I'm running the latest Mandrake on a Toshiba Laptop. I was suprised at how well it installed. My video was supported, the USB works great (even with a cordless Logitec Mouse). The only problems I had was:
1) The sound has a problem. I can listen to CD's easily but when I go to play an MP3, there is a buzzing noise (this is most likely due to the fact that the devices share the same IRQ)
2) The DVD needs to be installed...but as yo know this a linux thing.

Mandrake really seems to be geared towards the X-Windows guy...like me. Not for the hard core Linux guy.

I have used both, but mandrake in my opinion is much better.. The hardware support is better, it seems to be more stable, and it comes with some really good utilities by default.. I run it at home and have recently converted our NT server at work to Mandrake 8.0 and its been rock solid for about a month so far.... I strongly recommend mandrake over redhat especially if you are a newbie due to the fact that its much easier to setup... Hope this helps..

Mandrake is for newbies. Redhat all the way. There is a reason why redhat is number 1 cause it is the best.

Obviously it seems that Mandrake is in the public opinion and for good reasons.

I agree mandrake is better for newbies then redhat, but redhat is not better by any means, Mandrake IS redhat with some tunning and a comprehensive set of applications so in either case Mandrake is Better... Take redhat optimize and tweak the heck out of it add a few hundred or so apps and you have Mandrake.... I am only saying this based on the experiences I have had in the last 5 years or so with NIX oses, Mandrake is by far one of the most "Complete" distributions.. Just because it looks pretty doesn't mean its not as good as say a less "Complete" distro, take away the GUI and you have the same capabilities that you have with any other of the better NIXs out there.
