building a managment/admin system.

Hi All,
I already asked this question, but it wasn't that obveious: I need to build a medical site(Pdmed.com) for patients using PHP on win2k platform.Is it possible to have a special url, say www.admin.pbmed.com or www.pdmed.com/admin to manage/administrate the site(add remove content)with password?
is it possible with PHP? and any ideais of how doing that? any tutorials on the net may help?

It's totally possible with PHP. Content Management is not an easily produced project though.

I'd suggest learning about working with databases, forms, session management, authentication, and cron scripts.

I've done this kind of project several times. In fact, I am currently working on one right now. Americus is very correct: this isn't going to be a weekend project. Expect to put in quite a few hours (much more if you are just learning PHP).

In addition to Americus' recommendations, look into using a simple template system rather then going for an all-out administration bonanza to start out with.

While I agree with Americus, there is another way, providing you only need a modicum of security.

I have built many sites where the admin code is in a directory http://blah.com/admin , simply protected with .htaccess.

Note - this acts as a deterrent only.
