I have no experience with perl but I do have some with PHP and ASP. I have a web-site in Perl that I have to rebuild that uses Mysql Db. What I want to know is if I go ahead and learn perl or change to PHP or ASP directly. Actually the most important point for me to strive with Perl would be to be able to split perl TAG code with HTML like PHP <? ?> and ASP does <% %>. So, Does anyone know if perl has this feature? What version?

Anyway, I want a conclusion about what language to use. The web site is all in perl, and I am going to rebuild it all again adding new features. Of course I want to use some part of the code, just changing the interface. So, what is your opinion?

IMHO, php, after zend eng 2, is goin' to rule over perl. Yet I haven't tried embedded perl (not even once). You wanna my opinion? I moved from perl to php after about 7 months of progrmming on perl. Fact is speakin' for himself

How big is the site, and how extensive is the perl stuff (as opposed to plain old html?) Learning a whole new language is a big project, and so is rewriting a whole site. It's really your judgement call on which is going to be the most work. Also, though I really like PHP and prefer it for most new projects, it probably wouldn't hurt you to learn perl anyway if you're doing web-related work.

It is real big Lets say about 100 .pl scripts and it still have many things to do. In these case what would be the advantage of using embeded perl instead of PHP? Do you think that I would really save time keeping with perl or do I should forget everything and go ahead with PHP.
