file upload

Does anyone know if php have to be configured to allow me to upload Microsoft Word and Excel file types? I am trying to get a file upload to work, but it appears as though the variable $filename_name and $filename are not being passed to the page that moves the uploaded file from the temp directory to the desired directory.

I don't think it has to be configured. You might want to post your code (the form and the page the form is sending too) it may be a variable problem. At least thats my guess...
