[Resolved] Konqueror works, netscape broken

Hello all,

I am developing a web application on a local intranet, apache is set up for name based virtual servers, I have a self signed certificate.

Now out of the clear blue, (or black) konqueror will move through the site without problems, when a new user is created through konqueror and the submit button on the form is pressed everything works fine.

However, when netscape is used and the submit button is pressed no user is created and it automatically takes me to the home page of the site. This problem does not just affect the new user registration form but all forms on the site, if the submit button is pressed it return me to the home page.

This problem also extends to ever client on the LAN. I can find no error messages of any kind indicating a problem.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

likely its an html problem with the forms for the submit. post an example here with the shortest amount of code neccessary to recreate the problem.

I've recently had similar trouble. It seems that netscape is very strict. I eventually solved the problem (i think) by getting very strict with my use of vars. I'm talking about unsetting when there not needed etc but also if you are using branching stuss like switch statements make sure you use break; at every appropriate place. I found that this huge switch statement at the heart of my app worked finr in everythig but netscape. A few tweaks and a little more attntion to detail and it all worked fine!
PHP is server-side as you know so it's not strictly an HTML thing but a var thing surely?
Brandons not wrong, your HTML causes the nar thing!
Also check the scope of your vars with print()'s if they are within functions.

Thanks for the help, I am still trying to figure out exactly what I need to submit without having to send the entire document.

Funny thing though, this form functioned perfectly for almost a month, then 4 days ago it just stopped working.

I was working on another portion of the site and had not changed anything in the registration.php file.

Is there a setting that affects the amount of post data that can be submitted from a form. Maybe I accidentally changed something in the configuration.

If I get the code cut down I will post the snippet.

One note, I changed the form action= from $PHP_SELF to the name of the file register.php and now the form works again.

Yep, thats the kind of thing that was tripping me up, if your form is contained within a function just global $PHP_SELF; and all will be well

but again, php is creating bad html. the fastest way to troubleshoot this is to look at the html and work backwards.
