Testing PHP files in Windows OS

I have a laptop with both Win98 and Win2000.

I normally test my php files on my web server (on-line) so I do not have PHP on my PC.

Question: What do I need to download from PHP.net in order to test (or run) my PHP files off-line?

I see the source code and Windows binary downloads available. Which of these is a simpler solution and do you recommend that I use the PWS.

Hi!!

With regards to your question, try going to the following URL below:

http://www.firepages.com.au/devindex.htm

Then download the phpdev3 bundle. It is a complete PHP, MySQL and APACHE bundel and will allow you to get your computer up and running PHP with almost no trouble at all. Just unzip, place a few files in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, and that's it. I use the same setup to run PHP on my laptop with WinME as my OS.

version 4 is out with php 4.06, apache and myslq..
You don't even need to put files in your system.
-just unzip to C:\
-hit the start_95_98.exe
-open your browser
-enter http://localhost
