something bad is happining...

HI guys..

I have a confesion to make: I joined this forum 3 months ago and since then something bad is happining to me: I started to hate windows... plz help! is that normal side-effict of this forum? or am I beeing ill?

I just don't belive I spent 29 years of my life with out knowing unix or linux.. I feel sorry about it..

The big question is: Can some one in my age make the shift? and what are first steps to do? where to begine? plz direct me...

Thoug I already made my mind, I'm afraid to be dissapointed when it comes to multilanguage support.. I need to type in Arabic and Hebrew besides English... is it ok? any support in linux for these languages?

I hope this isn't too long for you... Any help is totally apreciated..

Actually, no. The migration is fairly simple, as there are many many tutorials to help guide you through specific things. As far as Hebrew and Arabic support go, the KDE project has just added bi-direction text support (i.e. by default it goes from left to right, but arabic and other languages go from right to left, but you already knew that so nevermind 😉) Just grab a copy of Mandrake (which I believe is the most user friendly distro for newbies) or Redhat. Please note that special items you may have hooked up to your computer (some scanners, many webcams, tv cards etc) may or may not be supported. I'd check this out now. As for me, I've been using Debian (don't try that now unless you're feeling frisky 😉) on my laptop for about a year and a half and I couldn't possibly use anything else. I still have a Windows desktop at work (I have to check out my js and html on ie still, unfortunately) and a windows partition here at home (just for the games 🙂) So even if you don't want to devote your entire harddrive to linux, you can still dual boot and use both, which would be my suggestion. Hope that clears some things up.
