Zipping a Directory and mailing with PHP

I just wondered if anyone can shed some light on this. I need to be able to dynamically produce a cataglogue of all the images stored in a database, and have say 20 images on each html page. I can create the HTML pages on the fly to include the images etc i think, although i need for the user to be able to press a simple button on the admin section and then it auto zips the files in the dir and mails it to them so they can unzip it burn it on a cd and send it out to the client so when they insert the cd the index.html page boots with links to the images which they can then view offline. Probs is i`m having a little trouble working out how to autozip something . . . any ideas ?

would be highly grateful for even the tinyest of suggestions.

Don't underestimate the power of the commandline.

There are utilities that automatically generate html pages with thumbnails and package the hole thing.
Get your hands on one of those and use exec() or system() to start it.

You can allways use exec() or system() to zip files.
