HTTPS connections from a FreeBSD server?

Hi,

We are in the process of doing online creditcard validations on our FreeBSD/PHP 4.0.5 webserver. To do this, we have to set up an HTTPS connection to our payment server. (That is, open an HTTPS url from within a PHP script). After digging around a bit, I learned that you can compile PHP with the cURL library to do this.

BUT.... on the cURL download page (http://curl.haxx.se/) I see that the FreeBSD port does not support SSL.

Does anyone here have experience with this or know of an alternative that we could use?

first off, I LOVE BLENDER! Now when's my SMP support coming? 😉

For anything SSL on BSD, I've used OpenSSL. Its in the ports tree and works like a charm. While I havent had much experience setting up anything complex with it - I do believe it will suffice for what you are trying to do.

hehe, love the product - cant beleive I can run in it FreeBSD AND BeOS AND Windows AND...well, you get the picture. The only feature it lacks is SMP support!

Yes, openssl will do https - for more info check www.openssl.org and install it from the ports, it wont hurt!
