Problem with GD and PNG

Hey all -

Anyone else had troubles with this? I'm trying to use a library that draws graphs, necessitating the use of GD (which is enabled in PHP on the server). Problem is, phpinfo() says that only WBMP support is there, and I cannot for the life of me get JPEG or PNG to work. I've recompiled PHP/Apache countless times.

Got compile-line options of --with-gd, --with-jpeg, and --with-png (all specifying paths). Did a grep on the configure process to see that PHP does indeed find libpng and libjpeg, but after compile they're still not present. What's the deal here? Thanks in advance to the valiant souls who can help me with this.

Did you flush your make cache before re-compiling? I probably used the wrong terminology there since I'm pretty new to Linux, but hopefully you know what I'm trying to say🙂 I know that both Debian and RedHat have pre-compiled PHP packages which include GD with JPEG and PNG support (may exist on Mandrake too) so that might be an option for you as well. HTH.
