What characters can it contain? This is a regular expression (eregi) from PHPClasses - emails can really have -!#\$%&'*/=?_`{|}~ and spaces in them?

Email addresses can contain all sorts of different characters...
For example: The following string, in its entirity, is a competely valid email address:
Some Person <someone@example.com>
CSN, check out rfc 2486, they've got it covered for ya (valid symbols).

Yes... but the one I used was valid too and the greeting card did not take it!!!
