Zend Optimizer vs. Cache

Hello,

I tried to see if a previous thread was made on comparing the Optimizer versus using a cache manager like afterBURNER*Cache.

From what I have read, Cache Managers not made by Zend are incompatible with the Zend Optimizer...

Since Zend Cache is not free and the Optimizer is free I feel I am left with two choices for my upcoming webserver

Use Zend Optimzer or a free Cache program like afterBURNER*Cache

Which would work better in a situation in which the amount of RAM in the server is limited (sorry, it is a donated machine just scrapped together to produce webpages)...

I expect the number of hits each day to not hit more than a few hundred....

If that is the case, I would leave out the Cache, as that is meant to speed execution time by caching the compiled scripts in memory. With such a low amount of accesses to the box, it is unnecessary and maybe even detrimental to go with the zend cache. And you probably won't see much improvement with the Optimizer, if any at all, and it just eats up memory as well. So really your best bet is to leave them both out. Hope that helps!
