Aniruddha,
PHP can do many things with pictures in two ways:
First, you can use the GD library, go to:
http://php.net/manual/en/ref.image.php
to look at the possibilities.
Second, you can use shell commands exec() to run a program called Imagemajik that will do many things to your images also. Anyone have comment on the prefered of the two?
Lastly, you need to go to a beginners tutorial on how to set up php on your system. The good thing about php is that it is not a full commitment. Once you start down the php path, forever will it NOT dominate your destiny. hehe, um, anyways, enough Yoda. Point is..php is light enough that you can try it out, if you don't like working with it..you can remove it and no worries. You haven't made any sacrifices. Go to www.php.net to get started!
