URL problem

I have an example here:

$URL = "www.yahoo.com";
echo "<href=\"$URL\" target=\"_blank\">Yahoo.com</a>";

but it linked me to a address like this:
'www.myhomepage.com/www.yahoo.com', www.myhomepage.com is the address of this script.

why?

You need to use the full path

e.g.

$URL = "http://www.yahoo.com";
echo "<href=\"$URL\" target=\"_blank\">Yahoo.com</a>";
