My web develper is having difficulty in getting mac to utilize a "print this page" icon. The website in javascript works great on IE browsers on PC but MAC is giving him a headache. Any cross-platform advice I can give him?
I've always found that it's best to leave print buttons where they belong: in the browser, not in the page.
I agree. Unfortunately, the poor sobs here want a stupid print button as well. Works in Netscape on Linux, IE and NS on PC, but not in IE/NS on Mac... Thank god, maybe I can convince them now that javascript is something one shouldn't use...
I'm a mac guy, but I don't know if this is possible or not. I'm going to guess impossible - for the sole reason that Macs seem to rebuff these sort of requests on all fronts - hence the reason that Macs don't have as many issues with virii as PCs do (well, that's not the only reason, but it is a good one). Why should a remote application be allowed to print on a local machine anyway? create "printer friendly page" button (like PHPBuilder does - did you ever see that?) and then let the user hit "print" from the local application - the browser.
