Sendmail Sends too much

Hey!

I use a mailing script written in PHP that uses the "mail()" funtion to send its mail.
However I experienced people receiving way more mail then I intented. Sometimes upto 9 mails when I just send one.
How is this possible? Is it the sendmail program?
I'm thinking of implementing a small wait-time between sending two mails. But this is just a wild guess.

BTW I meaned a mailing LIST script. So it's about sending a lot of mail in one time.

Sounds like a misconfigured sendmail, either that or a loop's gone crazy somewhere - any chance of seeing some code?

The loop should be ok. Cause every email that is send is logged in the same loop. And every mailaddress only shows up one time in the log!
I wonder if it is in general a bad idea to have a large bunch of emails handled by the mail function in one very fast loop?

How many are you trying to send at once? It might be an idea to split them into batches and then send a batch every 15mins or so.

Still. any chance of seeing the code? Is it possible the logging mechanism (recording the email sent) is outsdie of the send loop? I ran a program similart to yours 4,500-5,000 email addresses and did not see this type of problem. One other thing, could you be adding the same email address to the $send var, assuming you do one? I guess my point is, i doubt the amount of mail sent is causing your problem.
