Graphics in a variable

I'm trying to get a varible to display a graphic when certain conditions are met but all I get is a big red X. Here's what I have. What's wrong?

  if ($Intonation=="(Smiles)"):
  $Intonation="<img src=Fbigrin2.gif>";
  endif;

[Anon]

if ($Intonation=="(Smiles)"):
$Intonation="<img src=Fbigrin2.gif>";
endif;

Depending on what browser you are using, the problem could be that you don't have any '"' around the image name.

Like so:

$Intonation="<img src=\"Fbigrin2.gif\">";

(not that the '"' are escaped with a '\')
